Getting the Job Done

Since forming in 1988, Cottonwood Resource Council has:

  • Protected the East Boulder River and made county roads safer through our Good Neighbor Agreement with Stillwater Mining Company.
  • Provided local citizens with reliable information about county planning efforts to promote responsible growth in the area.
  • Championed the Hard Rock Impact Act at the Montana legislature to aid cash-strapped communities facing rapid growth from new mining projects.
  • Hosted candidate forums for state and local elections to encourage candidates to address community and conservation values.
  • Worked to ensure mineral extraction on public lands is held accountable to existing laws and all lands are reclaimed.
  • Supported Lewis and Clark bicentennial efforts by donating money to the Montana native plants garden.
  • Worked with local school boards and city officials to implement the local Hard Rock Impact Plan.
